The week is finally over and I’m quite thankful. Here’s a small recap of some of my highlights.

Sunday-Monday: fckshtup takeover south padre begins. Our great friends at Mooncussers allowed us to set up shop all week long, which made for an incredible time every single night. BIG thanks to everyone that helped out, including Nugget, Mattie, Thomas, Karla, Abe, and of course the one and only Katie Vegas.

Never Say Never Music Festival, the little project that Geo and I have been working endlessly on since November, finally came about on St Patty’s Day. 40 bands, 3 stages, one hell of a headache. Everything ran pretty smooth and I can’t thank EVERYONE involved in making it possible. Literally a list of names too long to list, but you know exactly who you are.

Hey Monday

Pete Wentz DJ set at Mooncussers South Padre was bonkers.

Friday-Sunday: SXSW in Austin with some great friends. Most of the time was spent at the Moodswing360 parties, they’re some of my favorite agents from NY I love to work with. We like to party. My favorite surprise of the weekend came from Kelley James, check out his tunes asap. This kid is going to blow up.

Sing It Loud - Epitaph Records

Sing It Loud - Epitaph Records

Sing it Loud – all-around pop band out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. These dudes just finished playing in front of thousands of fans across America while supporting Cobra Starship’s Sassyback Tour. Their Epitaph Records release was produced by Josh Cain of Motion City Soundtrack. After their own headlining tour, you can catch them on the entire Warped Tour.

Artist Vs Poet - Fearless Records

Artist Vs Poet - Fearless Records

Artist vs Poet – sprung to life over a year ago in Dallas, TX through a simple myspace bulletin the vocalist posted. Since then, the band is now riding the success of their latest release through Fearless Records (Mayday Parade, Plain White Ts). Although quite young, AVP has the opportunity of a lifetime that most bands never get…expect them to grow up real fast.

The Summer Set - The Militia Group

The Summer Set - The Militia Group

The Summer Set – hailing out of Phoenix Arizona, the summer set delivers nothing short of unique and catchy brand of fun, upbeat pop rock. They’ve made their way down to McAllen before as they’ve performed with Houston Calls and A Change of Pace in their co-headlining Ridin’ Dirty Tour.

All three, along with the previously announced – The Friday Night Boys – are the latest additions to the 2009 Never Say Never festival – now well over 20 artists! Tickets are still available at Melharts Music, Wireless Toyz, Lionels Western Wear in Weslaco, The Bullrider in Harlingen, Polarisol in Reynosa, and online at ez-tixx.com

The Secret Handshake

The Secret Handshake

On Monday I locked down The Secret Handshake for February 18th. Last minute gig, but his shows always turn it up to be fun dance parties. I designed the flyer today, click the image above for the full version. Cute and simple but I really dig it. Festiva announces the latest additions to the Never Say Never lineup in tomorrow’s edition, all of which I’m excited about.

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th

I’m calling it right now: The new Friday the 13th reboot will be HUGE. Keep in mind that it is Rated R – which will make it tough to have huge opening numbers…but when it comes to the horror genre, they usually tend to be pretty low. It seems that 2009 will be a good year for the genre, as other highly-anticipated films such as Drag Me to Hell and The Last House on the Left should have great earnings. Tons of hype has been brewing on Drag Me to Hell – from the genious director of Evil Dead – which makes me super anxious to watch it.

If I didn’t have s–t else to do, I’d get a job at Blockbuster or a nearby movie theatre (looking at you Abe). Sneak previews and endless amount of buttery popcorn, projector room makeout sessions and the standard stadium seating handjob. Oh, well…

Out with Mitchell, Monica and I. Holidaze 2008

Out with Mitchell, Monica and I. Holidaze 2008

We’re officially a week and a half into the new year, and 2009 is looking to be pretty nuts. I didn’t have a new years resolution when it came down to have one since its usually ‘work out, run, grow 1,000 muscles’ and then FAIL. So this year, I’ve got a couple of theories that should help me get by in 09.

1. Do not pass up on big opportunities. Easier said than done, but after 9 days into the new year, I’ve been reaching higher than usual. I know it’s me going ahead of myself, but it’s really what it takes to get to the next level. I’m almost 24, and I’m not ready.

2. Be more efficient. I’m a decent multitasker. I’ve got to learn to manage my time a little better. As opposed to half assing something while I’m taking a call, take the call, then finish what I’m doing. Today, I put together a sponsorship package, took several Shwayze calls, updated the Never Say Never flyer, finished another to be announced flyer, worked on volleyball pictures, and sent out chunks of emails. Oh, and grabbed some coffee.

3. F Bombs. I need to watch my profanity, for realzz.
